Biography
Mary Quant was one of the most famous fashion designers of the 1960s; her best-known creation was the mini-skirt. Mrs. Quant was born on February 11, 1934, London England. She is currently living in England with her husband Alexander Plunket Greene, and son Orlando. After studying illustration at art school, Mrs. Quant worked for a couture milliner; she would often spend three days stitching a hat for one customer. Then later on, she opened up her own London boutique, Bazaar, in 1955 selling clothes. In 1983; she has designed mini skirts for J.C. Penney, Puritan Fashions, Alligator Rainwear, Kangol, Dupont Europe, Staffordshire Potteries, and many more other name branded stores. She is not only a designer, but also a author as well. She has authored several books; opened Mary Quant Colour Shops, 1990s; stepped down from firm bearing her name, 2000. Mrs. Quant has also received a numerous number of awards. Many awards included Charted society of Designers medal; 1966, Royal Designer for industry award, British Fashion Council Hall of Fame award; 1990 and British best designer award. Mary quant is very inspiring; she had inspired many young designers, and me as well. She is a sucessful business women and a role model.
